Success isn’t stumbled upon or accidentally achieved. Sure, occasionally we hear of people who randomly created an amazing product or landed on a huge discovery. But we’re willing to bet that those people were doing the right things in order to be at the right place at the right time.
The Roman philosopher Seneca once said, “Luck Is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”. Success is found by those who are seeking. Are you?
So many people are waiting for success to happen to them. They may want success, but they aren’t necessarily seeking it actively. This may describe you. Do you find yourself in an average job, lost in a daily rat race? Do you have big ideas, but you’re not ready to pursue them? Do you want money, titles, or fame, but aren’t sure how to get them? It all starts with actively seeking success.
Above all, seeking success is a mindset. It’s not enough to just want money – everyone wants money. It’s wanting a particular financial outcome and believing you can achieve it. You have to have a relatively clear picture of what success looks like to you, and to truly believe that it can be yours. Both the visual and the desire have to be clear enough that you can think of it when you first awake and as you fall asleep. You should be able to weigh decisions with your success in mind.
How to Seek Success
Seeking success can sometimes seem counterintuitive to the lazy. Shouldn’t you just focus on the goal and work toward it? Yes, but that’s not all. Actively seeking success means keeping yourself open and ready for opportunities. These habits, steps, and ideas can help you seek success throughout your life, and in each and every day. Try implementing a few of these habits to begin seeking success more proactively.
Figure out how you best operate and then create that environment. Solo? With a dynamic team? On a deadline? Creatively? Headphones? No Wifi to distract you? Do whatever it takes to stay sharp and success will follow.
Success isn’t likely to find you if you’re exhausted, sick, weighed down and unhealthy. Even if it does, you’ll be too slow and uncomfortable to enjoy it. Take your health seriously so you can give 100% to your quest for success.
Always keep learning. One of the most common pieces of advice from successful businessmen and women is to read voraciously, attend conferences, and find a mentor who can keep you headed in the right direction.
Your vision of success may change. Be willing to be flexible, and open to ideas that may mean success in different ways. You want to be prepared when success comes a-knocking, especially if it doesn’t look like the guest you’re expecting.
Begin today – you can actively seek success, and success will find YOU.
